Why See a Women’s Health Exercise Physiologist?

A Women’s Health Exercise Physiologist specialises in supporting women through key life stages like pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause. We design evidence-based exercise programs to help you move confidently, improve your strength, and feel your best during these transitions.

Pregnancy

Why see an EP during pregnancy?
Pregnancy places unique demands on your body, and a women’s health EP can help you stay strong, mobile, and comfortable throughout. We focus on:

  • Preventing or managing common issues like back pain, pelvic girdle pain, and sciatica.
Supporting pelvic floor health to reduce the risk of incontinence or prolapse.
  • Preparing for labor and postpartum recovery through functional strength and mobility exercises.
  • Providing safe, tailored exercise programs to maintain your fitness while protecting your growing baby.

Postpartum

Why see an EP after giving birth?
Postpartum recovery is about rebuilding strength, restoring function, and supporting your long-term health. A women’s health EP can help you with:

  • Reconnecting with your core and pelvic floor to improve strength and function.
Healing abdominal separation (diastasis recti) safely and effectively.
  • Reintroducing exercise gradually while managing fatigue,  hormonal changes and understanding how to manage intra- abdominal pressure.
  • Addressing common challenges, such as incontinence, pain, or posture changes (breastfeeding!).

Menopause

Why see an EP during menopause?
Menopause brings significant hormonal changes that can impact your strength, bone health, and overall well-being. An EP can help you thrive during this phase of life with:

  • Strength training programs to maintain muscle mass and improve bone density, reducing the risk of osteoporosis.
Cardiovascular and mobility exercises to boost heart health, energy levels, and joint function.
  • Weight management strategies to address metabolic changes.
  • Symptom management support to help with hot flashes, mood changes, and sleep disturbances.
